25th Anniversary



This weekend,  Daniel and I went to Branson to have a short getaway to celebrate our 25th Anniversary.  While we were there, we did a little shopping. I found this red, white, and blue shirt on clearance for $5. They only had smalls left on the rack. I thought that I might be getting close to it and by next summer it would more than likely fit, so for $5 I was willing and to “risk” it. I was floored when I put it on this morning and it actually fit. (My 9 year old picked the picture.)




Then we went to Walmart and we were looking at shoes for Daniel. He suggested that we see if they have anything in my size since their store is larger than our small town store. 21 years ago I had to go from a size 10 ladies shoes to a size 12 while I was pregnant with my oldest boy. I haven’t been able to shop at Walmart for shoes since. Today, I found 2 pair of shoes that were a size 10 and THEY FIT!!!

I’m a happy camper.

How Did I Do It?

So instead of continuing my narrative this time, I decided that I would answer two questions that I have been asked many times since my first post. 1) How much weight have I really lost? 2) How did I do it?  So far, year to date, I have lost 117 pounds out of 200. Yes my goal is to lose at least 200 pounds. I will be less than half of my starting size. If you remember, I started at 375 pounds. When I finally get down to 175, I will no longer be considered obese. At that time I will then decide if I want to drop another 10 or stay at 175. The Beginning of My Weight Loss Journey

This is a sad picture in many ways. This Is what I looked at my heaviest weight. My heaviest weight was 375 pounds. I had given up on ever losing weight because nothing I had tried had ever worked. I hated pictures of myself, so I always deleted the pictures that I wasn’t hidden behind someone. January of 2019 I quit eating pancakes and waffles and I quit drinking Dr. Pepper unless I was on a trip and needed something to drink.  In June of 2019, I found this picture on Facebook that a friend of mine had taken and shared. I cried when I saw this picture. I knew that I had to find something that worked. I started researching Keto in general and found that there are many versions of Keto, but the basic theme is low carbs. I started playing with the idea of less carbs and not fully committing to it yet when someone recommended that I look up a Facebook group “Eat Like A Bear”. She Didn't Even Recognize Me

  So in just 12 months, I went from a size 32 to a size 16.   Then last Saturday I had an appointment to get my hair cut. I have been going to the same lady for the last three years, but with the Covid shutdowns, it had been 7 or 8 months since she cut my hair. (My husband cut it for me after everything shutdown)  When I walked in, she asked if she could help me. My response was that I have a 12:30 appointment.  She then asked me for my name. I told her that I was Tonia Walker. She told me to go ahead and take a seat and she would be with me in a few moments. After just a moment, she asked me what was different about me. I proudly told her that I had lost 130 pounds in just over a year.  When she heard this, she and the other customer in the chair both gasped and she informed me that she hadn’t recognized me at all when I had come in.
